There is an immediate chance for redemption. With the Ducatis having swept the board at the Red Bull Ring, the Yamahas could only do their best to defend themselves and make up a few points to Marc Marquez. Valentino Rossi did his best, but had to settle for final fourth place, which only brought him two points closer to his Honda rival. Almost nothing really.

Now it's time to get back on track and the Doctor is champing at the bit: “I'm pleased we can get back to the track less than a week after the previous race – said #46 – in Austria our aim was the podium, but we didn't make it. During the tests we were struggling – he added– but we didn't do too badly in the race”.

In the Czech Republic the nine-times champion wants to turn things around and, particularly, aim higher than in 2015: “It's a track ’that I know well and that I enjoy – he confirmed – last year Jorge was a lot faster than me and I'm curious to see whether I'll be able to do better”.

Third place on Sunday served as a real confidence boost for Lorenzo. After three races to forget, #99 won the Yamaha derby, crossing the line just ahead of his team-mate: “I think I achieved a great result in Austria at the end of a difficult period – he admitted – so I'm pleased we were on the podium”.

Now the Yamaha rider wants to continue down this path: "I'm keen to race at Brno – he continued – because it's a track that perfectly suits the characteristics of the M1 with its very fast corners”. Last year he won the race: “I have good memories, seeing how we dominated last year –  he concluded – I also hope to have the same sensations, continuing to make up championship points as we did in Austria.”
