MotoGP, Andrea Iannone: I was on it today!

“Today I was really on it!”, Andrea Iannone is in seventh heaven as testing concluded at the Red Bull Ring. And he has every reason to be, because his best, a 1’23”240, is an unbelievable lap time.

Dovizioso, the closest rider to him, finished more than 4 tenths behind, while Stoner was 6 tenths off the pace and Rossi and Lorenzo 9.

“It's great to go into the holidays like this”, continues the Italian, who probably can't wait to get to Austria for the Grand Prix in mid-August.

“We've done well, I like this track, I'm not only referring to the flying lap but also our pace - he explains - I made a series of lengthy exits, 9 or 10 laps at a time. We've really worked hard, I'm tired but happy”.

Andrea completed 40 laps in the afternoon alone, plus another 31 during the morning.

“I knew I could be fast today and have worked well with the team - he says - There's a good level of understanding between me and my crew chief Rigamonti, we've made some mistakes this year but we're usually able to show our potential”.

Andrea doesn't fall into the trap of thinking he's already beaten his rivals.

His final words relate to track safety.

“We've spoken with Franco Uncini, I appreciated his presence here - he confirms - There have been some changes with respect to the past, but in some places the walls are too close for our standards. During the GP, in the Safety Commission meeting, we'll talk about changes to be made for next year”.
