Rea: I want more than third at Laguna Seca

A clear message, which seems to shut down any hope. The double win scored three weeks ago at Misano allows Johnny Rea to take another important step towards the title. At the track dedicated to Marco Simoncelli, the Kawasaki rider couldn't have done better Now he's back on the bike for the last time before the summer break. This weekend's event takes place at Laguna Seca: “I'm pleased to get back on the bike - said Rea – because this is undoubtedly a special round".

Last year he had to settle for third place in both races: “I think it was a good result – he added– we weren't far from the leaders, this year I'll try to do more, as I've felt really good in the latest races, and we also had very good feedback at the recent Misano tests”. Rea is also banking on the public's support: “The fans always do a great job of supporting us – he concluded – I'll give it my all to obtain the best possible result”.

Tom Sykes continues keep his championship hopes - though slim - alive. Despite the many points separating him from his team-mate, the Kawasaki man wants to start from where he left off at the Misano test: “It was a very useful day of work, where we made a big step in terms of growth – commented the Brit – for this reason I can't wait for Friday".

Last time around only Chaz Davies was able to beat him, but the year before he was on top of the podium. Tom enjoys racing at Laguna: “This track is really unique – he added –when you ride it on the scooter you really understand the slopes, especially through the corkscrew, where you go up before going down, and down. It's undescribable”.

After his second place at Misano, Tom Sykes knows that he cannot afford any mistakes, because this could really be his last chance to get back into the title fight.
