SBK, Davies: I want the same performance at Misano as at Imola

Giugliano fighting back after Donington podium: "Thanks to the recent tests we'll be even more competitive"

Davies: I want the same performance at Misano as at Imola

At the latest Donington round, he had to deal with Tom Sykes' superiority. As well as winning, the Kawasaki man was even able to move up into second place in the championship, ahead of the Welshman. Now though Chaz Davies wants to turn the page, especially after the tests completed two weeks ago, during which the team focused on the Panigale R's electronics and chassis: “It's definitely a plus racing at Misano having tested here two weeks ago - he said – the tests allowed us to move forward with the work, particularly regarding the base set-up, which we generally focus on during the Friday of race weekends”.

The track conditions leave the Borgo Panigale men feeling confident: “The track is still in great condition after having been resurfaced last year– he added - we've also tested a couple of evolutions that we'll bring to the race considering the positive feedback”. Last year, the Welshman managed to score third place in Race 1: “In 2015 I reached the Misano podium for the first time – he concluded - now we want to do more and will give it our all to repeat the results achieved at Imola in front of our fans”.

The track dedicated to Marco Simoncelli is one that instils confidence in Davide Giugliano. One year ago the Roman rider finished race 2 just behind Johnny Rea: “Misano is a track that I really enjoy – he explained – last time around we made two good races and this time we can also count on the preparation time we had over two days of testing, during which we obtained good feedback”.

The Ducati man is convinced that the recent tests will provide a solid base on which to continue the work: “Our rivals are competitive everywhere – he added - but the data collected two weeks ago might be of fundamental help. Together with the team, we're working well on the base set-up of my Panigale R”.

Giugliano already knows the direction they'll take: “During the tests we gained confirmation – he concluded -now we just need that final step to find a couple of extra tenths in terms of pace which we need to make the difference over race distance”.
