Dovizioso: As fast in the race as in qualifying in Spain

There's bitterness about what was a wasted opportunity, but also faith after returning to the podium. Andrea Iannone wants to start from where he left off at Mugello at the seventh event of the MotoGP season in Spain. At Barcelona the Italian rider will strive for continuity: “This weekend I'll try to exploit the positive moment of two weeks ago – he declared -I really like the track and won a race there in Moto2 in 2012”.

Since his debut in the reigning class things have been tougher than expected however, and the Borgo Panigale rider has never done better than fourth: Unfortunately I've always struggled in MotoGP – he continued - but this year the situation's totally different, considering we have different tyres and electronics. The Desmosedici GP has proved to be a really competitive bike – he concluded - so I'm sure we can make a great race

Hoping for more than his recent fifth place finish is Andrea Dovizioso. A result, at Mugello, that nevertheless showcased the rider's gifts, as he was forced to deal with neck pain all weekend. Barcelona is one of his favourite tracks: “The Montmeló circuit is one of the world's most beautiful - he declared - I'm very happy to race there this weekend”.

They can't forget about the Michelin tyres, which have played a key role during the first part of the season: “It will be important to understand how the tyres behave on this tough track – he added - in any case, my feeling with the Desmosedici GP is really good”. He needs to make a step forward however, particularly in the race: “We need to improve certain aspects – he concluded - because we are consistently fast in practice but then are unable to match this during the race on Sunday”.
