MotoGP, Dani Pedrosa back to blue with Yamaha

The Spaniard is close to signing thanks to pressure from the sponsor that launched him

Dani Pedrosa back to blue with Yamaha

Pedrosa may have decided to make the big jump and move back to those who launched him in the world championship, the former Telefonica, now Movistar.

It was 1999, when, under the direction of Alberto Puig little Dani began his career in the Movistar Cup, a Honda championship.
Since then Dani has never moved away from the Japanese giant, having won three world titles with them, 1 in 125 and 2 in 250, as well as 51 Grand Prix race wins, 28 of which in the reigning class.

An admirable collection of course, but he is still missing the ultimate title, that of MotoGP, the category he's competed in since 2006.

Ten years with HRC.... No rider has ever stayed so long without bringing home the title.
The Japanese managers have, however, always shown particular affection for Pedrosa, despite him having put the world title at risk for a certain Nicky Hayden in 2006, causing him to crash out in Portugal with a strike reminiscent of what happened between Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso one month ago in Argentina.

"Pedrosa is calm and relaxed right now - observed Livio Suppo, team Principal for HRC - who knows, perhaps he's already signed with Yamaha".
Suppo jokes, considering that the talks to keep a rider who Marc Marquez likes have only just begun.

Who knows, the parents are sometimes the last to know about changes in their children.
In recent days, Lin Jarvis has been clear about Yamaha's interest in Maverick Vinales: "If he turns us down and stays in Suzuki, we already have a plan B ready".

Plan B is obviously Dani Pedrosa.
A win for the 'blue' sponsor that left the championship when Repsol took their rider.

142 podiums later and Pedrosa, the 'small package' with 51 kilos of talent but also a certain desperation, might have made a giant move. Perhaps 'David' Dani is ready to take on 'Goliath' Honda. And Marquez of  course.
