Marc Marquez couldn't have made a better start to 2016, erasing the winter's doubts race after race.  He's the rider who's made the least mistakes and won the most (2 races out of 3), despite probably not having the best bike.

It's the Spaniard himself who makes the difference, getting the best out of a Honda that isn't yet fully up to speed, as shown by the results of the other riders. At the same time, Marc is aware that things might be different in Europe and that he needs to prepare for a counter-attack.

I'm pleased to reach Jerez with a small advantage in the standings because I think our rivals will be very storng at this track - he reflects - I'm also happy with the work we've been doing with Honda and my team, we've been able to improve, step by step, at each race. In Qatar we found a good base set-up and in Argentina and Texas we were able to improve on it in some areas, like the engine brake and the electronics. Anyway, there's still work to do and room for improvement, especially in acceleration."

So Jerez will be a good test bench to understand the true levels at this stage of the season.

In Europe the tracks are different, narrower and with different asphalt, so we'll have to wait and see how we can manage the situation - he continues - Of course I like to come back to Spain after three long-haul races, and racing in front of my fans will give me extra motivation."

Jerez will also be an important event for Dani Pedrosa, after a mistake saw all his progress at Austin go up in smoke. He needs to score a solid result, always useful for morale, and the Spanish track is the very place to try.

Jerez is one of my favourite tracks and I missed not racing there last year - he states - I'll give it my all, starting the weekend with a good attitude after the positive sensations of the last round. I believe I could have fought for second in Texas so I need to start from there on Friday."
