SBK, Davies: I'm not worried, we're not far off

"I was close while out on track with our rivals. We have a good base set-up, the weather doesn't worry me"

Davies: I'm not worried, we're not far off

Despite closing Friday's combined practice in tenth place, Chaz Davies doesn't seem worried ahead of Saturday's Superpole and Race. The Welshman, though not managing to carry out a "time attack" due to the unexpected onset of rain, is nevertheless relaxed ahead of the Dutch races.

He's happy with the setting of the Panigale R which augers well whether there is wet or dry weather to come: "The weather conditions can change quickly here in Assen, but I’m not worried because in the last races we found a versatile set-up in the dry, which usually allows us to be quick out of the blocks without making radical changes".

One aspect on which the team may be focusing tomorrow is grip, the crucial factor really, considering the unstable weather conditions"we still have to make a few adjustments in terms of chassis to find more grip, especially at the maximum lean angle".

Davies' moods remains optimistic, despite the crash in the morning practice, which the Ducati riders assures us has nothing to do with the grip issues: "The bike was barely leaning at that moment. I didn’t expect it, but luckily it didn’t have any physical repercussions. I'm feeling confident, also because as long as I was out on the track with all our competitors, I wasn’t far from the top.”
