MotoGP, Batta-Ducati: A turbulent meeting
Francesco Batta didn’t take Max Biaggi’s test with the Ducati MotoGP down too well. After having tried hard to make the rider try the Panigale Superbike - "I nearly fell out with Gobmeier" he said remembering about the Belgium manager to Italia 1’s microphones – without any success, he had to assist the tests of the Roman rider on the MotoGp from outside.
"I had in mind a marketing project that would have surely brought substantial returns to Ducati’s image, the Superbike, the sponsors and also to Max Biaggi. I don’t understand what this weeks test was useful for... I sometimes find it hard to understand Ducati’s stratergies ".
In fact Batta had thought about a series of events that would have involved importers, sponsors etc ,in which there would have also been Biaggi’s test.
But apart from these minor niggles, the works continuing . Immediately after Donington a Ducati Panigale arrived in Alstare’s racing department and the technicians of the Belgian team began to work on the two cylinder from Bologna.
"We have applied the working method which was tested for years with Suzuki on the Panigale which allowed us to be along with the first for a long time even without direct support from the House. In this case there is no opposition or autonomy but the desire to provide useful information for us, for the designers and the Ducati technicians. With a spirit of collaboration".
The next step will be in the next few weeks whencomplete reports will start to arrive from Belgium: " In two or three days of work it’s impossible to give concrete evaluations, "said Batta. So then We’ll see.
Meanwhile, we have seen some small opening which is also thanks to Carlos Checa’s physical improvement. The first verification, today’s race.
