Rossi: it's nice to be winning again!

Friday, 23 November 2012 20:40 by Matteo Aglio - News

Valentino Rossi - GPOne.comValentino Rossi has scored his first win of the season, but it came on four wheels rather than two.  During the opening day of the Rally di Monza, the Doctor won the second special stage and grabbed the overall lead. "This really isn't my first win, I have taken others at the ranch - the Italian rider joked - This has been a difficult season, with few satisfying moments, but Monza has now become a year-end tradition.  I always enjoy myself, and being the leader is very satisfying.  It's also great to be on a team with Uccio and the Brivio brothers."

Also racing this year is Rossi's teammate for 2013, Jorge Lorenzo: "I'm the favorite here, because I have more experience, but Jorge is fast. It's not easy driving a WRC for the first time.  He already improved during the second special stage, and he'll improve again tomorrow." Valentino's main competitor, however, is Dindo Capello. "It's a challenge that keeps repeating itself, but now I have 3 tenths of a second that I can sit on - Rossi again joked - All kidding aside, I feel good in this car.  The 1600 is easier to drive and responds more 'honestly,' and I think that Ford and Citroen are evenly matched.  Everything will be decided in the Grand Prix special, where you can't afford any mistakes.  Tonight's special stage was very interesting; racing through the forest and the old parabolica at night is really great."

And since he is driving a car, Valentino also commented on the Formula 1 championship: "Vettel is the favorite, both because of the points and because his car has been very strong in the second half of the season.  I'm really sorry for Fernando and Ferrari who, without taking anything away from their rivals, deserve to win the title. I also heard that Robert Kubica is doing well in the Rally du Var, and it would be great if he could race here.  Maybe next year, since this is such a fun event.  Would he win?  We have to see, since experience counts a lot here."

Getting back to two wheels: "I didn't get an invite for Max Biaggi's party last night - the Doctor said with another smile - I can only send my compliments to Max for his great career.  Hopefully Dovizioso can ride the Ducati better than me, and he looked very motivated during the test.  As for the Yamaha, we have to wait until February."
