Rossi: I hope it rains until Valencia
Just like last year at Jerez, Valentino Rossi looks much more competitive in wet conditions than dry, but also like last year, he doesn't exactly understand why.
"Today we got confirmation that the new bike is like the old one in the wet, which is important. But we don't understand why. I think that's part of our problem in general. What makes us slower in the dry makes us faster in the wet, but we still don't know what exactly that is. That's the key factor we are looking for."
With that in mind, he joked about a strategy for the rest of the season.
"I guess I should hope it rains until the final race in Valencia - he joked - But Im happy with the performance in any case, also because in the wet I can brake and enter the corners the way I like. The sensation while riding is good, and the bike is giving me accurate feedback about what's happening at the tires. The result is that I'm able to be fast in every sector of the track."
But this might not be enough, sicne the race could see both wet and dry conditions.
"Strategy will be important. Coming in to change tires might not be the best move, as we saw last year. Those that did this paid the price. Maybe it will be smarter to take a slower pace and make it to the end of the race. Both the front and rear wear quickly, in just a few laps."
