Rossi: "It feels like the first day of school"
Valentino Rossi has arrived at Jerez for the final MotoGP test session prior to the season opening race, on April 8th in Qatar. After some mixed messages from Sepang - the first test went very well, the second less so - the next three days will be crucial for understanding the true potential of the GP12, a project that is still relatively new and unrefined.
"The first test was good, but we still need to work a lot on the bike - the Ducati rider said - Our objective is always to enjoy ourselves, have some nice races and finish on the podium. We will have to fight hard though, and it won't be easy."
To that end, Rossi and Ducati are dealing with extremely talented competitors on tried and tested equipment. "Our rivals are very strong, and we are still a bit behind because the bike is new. But the GP12 offers a lot of possibilities for adjustment, and we still need to discover the full potential. This will be an important test. Jerez is a difficult track, but I have many special memories here. These last three days before the season will help us better understand our level of competitiveness."
Despite having raced in MotoGP for many years now, the Italian rider is still excited about the season ahead. "The start of the championship always gives you the same emotions, like the first day of school. Qatar is a unique race, and it's nice to run at night. I feel well prepared, motivated, and I can't wait to get started."
